Thoughts on Water

Uncover the Benefits of Drinking Water

Uncover the Benefits of Drinking Water
By Dominic Anderton

Everyone knows that staying hydrated is important. Everyone also knows that without drinking water regularly a person can develop serious health problems and can even die. What many people aren't aware of is the many other benefits of drinking water. Drinking enough of it affects every system in the body and all of its necessary chemical reactions. The importance of drinking water can be seen in the skin and weight of anyone who doesn't get enough.

Weight is largely affected by hydration. The problem of retaining extra water is actually not caused by drinking too much -- it's caused by drinking too little. If a person is drinking enough water, his body will not need to retain it. The extra fluid will be flushed out and will take some of the body's other waste products with it. Swelling up with extra water weight is not a healthy state, and it also causes the body to keep the toxins that would have been flushed out of the tissues.

Keeping weight under control is affected by water in other ways as well. The importance of drinking water is particularly noticeable when a person is trying to lose weight. Drinking water affects the body's hunger signal. When a person is thirsty, they often attribute that feeling to hunger and may overeat. When trying to cut down on food, drinking water can make the stomach feel full so that it releases fewer signals of hunger. This leads to better portion control and fewer calories being consumed.

Healthy, clear skin is also one of the many benefits of drinking water. It keeps the skin hydrated and looking youthful. A lack of hydration can make the skin look older and less firm. Keeping elasticity in the skin is largely dependent on how much moisture it has. Dry skin is made worse by not consuming enough water.

For the digestion, the importance of drinking water is its effect on the entire process. Water helps the body to break down the food along the digestive tract. It keeps it moving through the bowels and keeps the body regular. A lack of water can cause constipation and stomach cramps.

Many people realize the importance of drinking water when they become tired and run down from a lack of hydration. Water is a source of energy that keeps the metabolism high. Without it, the metabolism slows and energy begins to flag. One of the benefits of drinking water is that this can be corrected quickly by drinking more. Getting into a routine of drinking it throughout the day can end the cycle of flagging energy and keep the body on at an even energy level.

There Is A Hole Range Of Holistic Healing

Unless you are part of a circle of friends or have joined forums about holistic healing you probably know nothing about it. What is holistic healing?

The are many parts to holistic healing and the spectrum goes from logical to mystical. There are some registered clinics around the U.S. that admit clients and during their stay; change the diet, work on exercise routines and even promote audio and visual aids to assist in overall health of the patient.

On the other side of the spectrum we have energy healers, new age healers, reike masters and spiritual healers. These individuals are often independent freelances of their profession if you will. They employ such methods as therapeutic non-touch, chakra and spiritual energy healing. So techniques range from specific and direct to vague and general.

This movement is somewhat of a new find in society but the ideas are really from the past. As far back as ancient Egypt come these ideas of mind body spirit balance and health. If you have ever seen a picture or movie with the depiction of a Pharaoh, you will notice him and his high priests holding rods in there hands. Supposedly this relieves stress and promotes power and energy. Even Moses in ancient times held a staff; we all know what he's famous for. So these methods are new to us and ancient in origin, possibly effective; in this case they are vague.

Specifically there are natural and all encompassing ways to either heal the body and mind or prevent it from disease. For example: heartburn. Many people take this, that and the other thing for indigestion. In most cases the real problem is just a lack of enzymes (fresh food like veggies, fruit, and fish). In this instance eating more fresh food would prevent your indigestion. Holistic health wise this is also going to promote a clean digestive track and more energy because what you are eating is being broken down instead of backing up your system with toxins. you will breath better; this may possibly even improve your senses for toxin buildup is no longer present.

From my research and experience in holistic health I've come the conclusion that as human beings we are meant to be healthy at least it's an innate desire; to be whole. Many people are looking for alternatives and they are there. Holistic health is growing in popularity and it has a wide variety of ways in which to manifest itself. My advice is: find what works for you. Do your research and watch out for fakes and flakes!!!

For Some, Acupuncture Stimulates The Body's Energy

In acupuncture qi is known as body energy, ora or chi if you will. This is the main theory behind acupuncture and must be understood in order to learn it's process. In theory your qi is disturbed because of things like disease, toxins or outside negative pressure. When it comes to the stimulation that you will get from Acupuncture, you will find that there are needles that are placed in specific points of the body so that the Qi flow can be affected. An acupuncturist is someone who uses the use of the needles to heal or unblock your qi flow. The concepts of the qi is difficult for most beginners, but it can be broken into easily understandable concepts that you can learn one at a time.

First, it is important to note there are five main types of qi energy: Qi, Jing, Xue, Jin Ye, and Shen. Qi can be roughly translated to “matter-energy.” It causes the movements in the universe, but it is a vital part of your own good health. Some equate the Qi to the soul. Jing can be most closely translated to “essence” in the English language, but there are no exact words in Western terms that mean Jing. When it come to Jing, it is something that is inherited like DNA and then we are able to create out own by eating certain foods and through the air that we breath. Jing, then can be somewhat called “health,” since we genetically receive some health predisposition, but also effect our own health and the health of our children with our lifestyle choices.

Literally meaning blood, Xue is the liquid that flows in the blood and through the Qi. The health of the two is dependent on one another. Jin Ye is also a tangible idea—bodily fluids. These include saliva, milk, tears, genital secretions, sweat, stomach fluids, and other liquids of the body.

Acupuncture is a way that you can treat the energies and to help create a healthy body. The energies are important since that help us develop body heat, defend illness, grow and develop, control the body’s blood and organs, transform, and break down the body’s metabolism. If you get acupuncture done on a regular basis, then you will be able to turn all of the negativity in your Qi into pure energy.
